Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, who portrayed Cory and Topanga in the original series, take on the same roles in Girl Meets World, which centers on the life of the couple’s daughter, Riley Matthews. Corey has become a middle school teacher, while Topanga is a lawyer. Similar to the theme of the original show, Riley has a troubled best friend named Maya, basically the female version of Corey’s sidekick Shawn. The show revolves around them navigating life and growing up together. Old characters from the original show are always popping in and out of episodes and it’s a great new twist on a classic show.
