Thank Goodness it’s the Weekend!
It’s been a long, strenuous week and now it’s time to relax at home, sleep in and spend some quality time with friends and family. What better way to spice up your weekend than with some quality music that really leaves you feeling the weekend vibe? Here is a list of songs (both modern and retro) that will liven up any weekend, no matter how dreary and get your soul excited!

This song is almost a no-brainer. Taylor Swift’s newest, edgy song is everywhere; you can hear it on the radio, in the store or from your off-tune friend. Listening to it will definitely give you an energetic and dynamic vibe for your weekend.
- Walk the Moon - “Shut Up and Dance”
Upbeat and catchy, this rock song has a straightforward and lively energy that is sure to propel you to your feet and dance the weekend away. Invite some friends over to rock out to this buoyant song
- Jesse J - “Flashlight”
The popular song is from “Pitch Perfect 2” and it’s melancholy but very sweet, a perfect metaphor for hanging out with friends on a late, Sunday night. Listen to this song in the late evenings to help enjoy those last few hours of relaxation.
- Zedd ft. Selena Gomez - “I want you to know”
Zedd’s creation is filled with funky electronic sounds as well as incorporating a heavy autotune effect. Listening to this dynamic song is a great way to get pumped and it at least merits a head bob with its catchy beat.
- One Direction - “Story of My Life”
Beautiful and poignant, this is one of One Direction’s more mature songs. It’s perfect for listening to on a rainy weekend and really encourages some self-reflection and thinking.
- Owl City - “Fireflies”
This classic song is a throwback from 2009 and has withstood the tests of time. It has a unique feel that is accomplished with the chord progressions and bleeping synthline. It has a wistful, and longing aura that echoes all of our desires for a longer weekend.
- The Rembrandts - “I’ll be there for you”
Ask your parents to listen with you and see if they recognize it. This nostalgic song is extremely well-known as the opening song to the TV show “Friends.” Although it has a rather retro feel, this song has a genuine feeling of joy and friendship that’ll be sure to brighten up your weekend!
