Back To School Series: School Supplies You Need

Autumn’s Almost Here!

Although we don’t want summer to end, the beginning of autumn is fast approaching! Hot, apple pies, red leaves and school are coming along with autumn’s first, chilly breath. Going back to school can be a sad and intimidating time but it shouldn’t be! With great friends, interesting classes and fun teachers, school can be a dynamic and stimulating environment to grow your intellectual skills. Also, don’t forget that shopping for school supplies is one of our little pleasures in life. Seeing the neatly packaged pens and pencils, crisp notebooks and fresh binders is enough to make anybody drool with longing. However tempting it is to buy everything, you should remember to pick up supplies that you’ll need later on in the year. We’ve decided to create a list of supplies that we think you’ll need to get through the school year so feel free to take a look!

A Closer Look…

We know there are a lot of brands to choose from and it can be hard knowing which one is the best. So, here are some suggested brands that, from personal experience, are quite good!

  1. High Sierra Backpack

Every student needs a good, sturdy bag to hold all of their heavy textbooks and binders. We constantly put our backpacks under stress by roughly slinging them over our shoulders or carelessly dropping them on the ground. After a while, backpacks tend to break under the strain of heavy handling and loads. However, the High Sierra Backpack is extremely durable even under heavy strain. The shoulder straps are wide padded to prevent shoulder pain while its hold capacity is enormous. Even better, the backpack has a waterproof feature if you’re ever caught in a surprise rainstorm.

  1. Five-Star Notebooks

Just like backpacks, notebooks go through quite a lot of strain. They have to survive being squashed into a bag and constant abuse of their covers and pages. So it’s important to buy a strong notebook that can protect your notes. Five-Star is renowned for its sturdy design and enduring qualities. If you get this notebook, you’ll see that even though the notebook goes through a lot of abuse, its cover barely creases while the note pages are untouched and pristine.

  1. Ticonderoga Pencils

You can’t learn if you don’t record what your new knowledge! Pencils are essential for a productive learning experience. You do your homework or write down lecture notes with pencils so you should only settle for the best of them. Ticonderoga pencils make a nice, dark mark sharpen more easily than other pencils. It prevents the embarrassing situation where you sharpen your pencil for a minute while the teacher is talking. Another good feature about the Ticonderoga pencil is that the eraser is quite soft and malleable, perfect for cleanly erasing mistakes. Some pencils have hard erasers that smear work or rip holes in your homework sheet.

  1. Sandisk Flash Drive

With more and more technology and digital work being incorporated into the school system, you’ll need a good flash drive. That way you can easily transfer your important academic files from computer to computer or to share with your friends. It’s much easier than constantly emailing and downloading your files. We recommend a Sandisk flash drive because although it’s a bit pricey, it’s a good idea to invest in a top-quality flash drive that you won’t need to replace. The Sandisk flash drive is tough and durable (it has survived washing machines before) and you can upload high-performance programs and documents into it without a glitch.

  1. Staples Binders

You’ll get tons of papers for each class so you need a safe and organized way to keep them together. But how? The obvious answer is binders! Binders probably take the most abuse out of all the school supplies we’ve mentioned so far. We constantly shove them into our backpacks, open and close the rings and slide them around on tables. It’s no surprise that after a year, binders look like they’ve lost a fight with a tiger. To solve that problem, you should get a Staples’ Binder. They’re actually quite cheap and they’re made out of durable plastic reinforced with rubber edges. They withstand the knocks of school life pretty well and only start to deteriorate after a full school year has gone by. Otherwise, they do a good job of holding together and keeping your papers organized and safe
