Is your desk staring at you with sad, lonely eyes? It might be time to give it a Desk Do-Over. The summer is a perfect time to give your desk a makeover for the upcoming school year. Check out these cool techniques that you can try at home to transform your workspace!

Summer Crafts: DIY Desk Do-Over

If your desk is a solid color, it might be nice to bring some patterns to the table (no pun intended).

You’ll need:

• Fabric of your choice
• Mod Podge
• Paint brush
• Scissors

Go find a fabric that you love, trace each of your drawers onto it like in this picture, and cut them out.

Paint some Mod Podge onto the drawer, and then lay the fabric over it.

A great way to store your pens, pencils, scissors, etc is by using Mason jars. You can decorate your own Mason jars, or follow this simple tutorial for “back to school” Mason jars!

You’ll need:

• Folk Art’s medium yellow paint, honeycomb paint, and white paint
• Chalkboard spray
• Sandpaper
• Sharpie
• Chalk

For the “pencil” jar, use the medium yellow paint. For the “ruler” jar, use a 50/50 mix of honeycomb and white. And for the “chalkboard” jar, spray the entire jar using the chalkboard spray.

Use sandpaper to distress the 3 jars

Using the sharpie and chalk, draw any decorations you’d like onto the jars!

Last but not least, make yourself an inspiration wall. This is a nice way to personalize your desk space and give yourself some inspiration while you work. It also adds some nice pops of color! To make an inspiration board, you can use any cork board or even an old picture frame, and pin up your favorite quotes, cute photos, or anything that you find to be inspiring.
