When it comes to fashion, it’s save to say that pretty much everyone has fallen victim at least once to a fashion faux-pas (or two!). We’ve even had our own ups and downs as fashionistas over the years. It’s necessary to fearlessly experiment in order to find your own personal style.
Needless to say, not every fashion choice you make will be a hit, so the occasional fashion experiment is bound to be a miss, and that’s okay! To help you make these fashion misses less often, we’ve come up with the six fashion blunders you should try to avoid making:
Here are the six fashion blunders you should try to avoid:
1. Not Trying Before Buying
Always, always, ALWAYS try on clothes before buying them! We know, it can be easy to think that because something says size medium that it’s totally your size. But sizes often change from store to store, which means it’s really important to take the extra second to try something on before heading to the checkout line.
2. Accessory Overload
We’re all about our necklaces, bracelets, toe rings, statement earrings, belts, and everything in between, but too much of a good thing is usually bad. Take a second before leaving the house to make sure that your accessories compliment your outfit and remember, less is usually more. We like to follow the wisdom of our favorite style icon Coco Chanel, who always suggested taking off one accessory before leaving the house.

3. Wearing The ‘Misfit’
Now, one of the most important pieces of fashion advice is to feel comfortable in whatever you wear, but don’t let this come at the price of your appearance! Try to find a perfect blend of style and comfort in your clothes. This means knowing your correct size which may differ from store to store. Remember- don’t let the size on the tag fool you. If it looks like it might fit, try it on!
4. Layering Your Layers
Unfortunately, some people seem to have the same ideas about layering as they do about accessories; the more layers the better. If you’re camping and need the layers to keep warm, we totally get it. But layering for fashion sake can be a fashion blunder that we’d like to avoid. Let’s keep the weird layering combinations in the 90’s.
5. Being A Fashion Clone
We know, it can be hard to find your own style when everyone is wearing the same trends at school or sports. You might not even have many stores to pick from at your hometown mall. But try to add your own personal flair to whatever the latest trend is- maybe a cool pair of earrings or a neon bag is all you need to set yourself apart from everyone else wearing that exact same ruffled skirt.
6. Critiquing Your Fellow Fashionista
A major fashion blunder to avoid is criticizing what your friends and fellow fashonistas are wearing! Remember to support one another; we can’t all get it right all the time.
Okay FP girls, time to spill!
