As many of you know, I have 4 sons and a daughter. My daughter is only 2 months old… and believe me, it’s quite different being a mom of a little girl. I absolutely love it. It’s been amazing seeing a little “girl” version of a McClelland baby.

The other night a good friend asked me, “What kinds of things do you want to teach Victoria?”

Even though much of the things I want to teach her will be things I want to teach my sons, there are a few different items on “my list” to think about, specifically for her… a little girl.

Here are 50 Things to Share with my Daughter (someday soon!)…

A broken heart is something you will get over (and someday tell your own daughter about)
Every girl needs a pair of jeans that fits like a glove
Keep a diary
Never lose touch with your siblings
Find that best girlfriend you can share anything with
Try bangs (at least) once in your life
If you’re going to ever get a tattoo, make sure it’s something you can live with (and feel like explaining the meaning to) when you’re 100 years old!
Always be open to love and the magic it brings into your life
Believe in happily ever afters
Try false eyelashes
Never be afraid to ask for help when you need it
Always be Daddy’s Girl
Splurge on shoes and accessories
Every New Year’s Eve, don’t make resolutions - make a list of goals for the year
Always remember the exact time you were born (you never know when that information may come in handy, believe me)
Believe in guardian angels
Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something
Workout and eat healthy
Never be afraid to bring a guy home to meet us… believe me, we’ll let you know what we think ;)
Pick up when I call you
Dream bigger than big. Always.
Always make sure you’re giving back - someway, somehow
Don’t be a confrontational type person
You can do anything you put your heart and mind and soul into
Have passion
Take lots of photographs to document life
Visit all 50 states
Know how to make scrambled eggs, pasta and grilled cheese
Always make eye contact when you’re talking to someone
Learn how to swim
Learn how to ski
Learn how to play golf
On a 1st date, always have an exit strategy (you know, just in case)
Seize every opportunity
Travel the world
Always stay in touch with your grandparents
Read. Read. And READ some more.
Become a mother someday.
USE SUNSCREEN!
Always need a black pencil skirt hanging in your closet
Cherish the ordinary moments in life
Let your kids see you be in love with their father
Pierce your ears (if I haven’t already with you)
Live in NYC (at least once - even though I’ll be a nervous wreck)
Know the story behind your name - it’s the first gift your parents ever give you
Plant a garden (your dad will love it)
Manicures and pedicures are the perfect way to pamper yourself
Remember - the “cool” girls in high school aren’t always the “cool” girls years later
Make wishes in eyelashes
As you get older, you do become more wiser and things definitely don’t bother you as much
