Summertime Play!

In less than a month, the calendar will mark the official end of the summer even though some moms consider back-to-school the beginning of fall. It’s not true though! We’ve still got a little bit of good weather left, and there are still weekends that can be filled with great summertime activities! There’s plenty of time to make family memories.

So, keeping that in mind, let’s remember to play. Let’s not take ourselves too seriously, and try to make some time to have some summer fun while we are still able to. Need some inspiration for what to do in these dwindling weeks we’ve got left? Here are some suggestions that will bring your family closer and quite possibly make you feel like a kid again!

  • Have a few more late evening barbecues while the weather is still good, and don’t forget the s’mores!
  • Get in as much pool or beach time as you possibly can. Take a lunch to the pool or an early dinner to the beach and watch the sun set one last time.
  • Catch fireflies late into the night - not just your children - YOU TOO!
  • Jump rope with your daughter or teach her how to play a game you used to play as a little girl.
  • Do sidewalk chalk and then take pictures of your creations. Let an unsuspecting neighbor judge your artwork.
  • Explore a nearby town you’ve never been to - go for lunch at a park and take a hike. Who knows what you’ll discover right in your own backyard.
  • Is there a particular destination your children have always wanted to go to but you’ve never had the time to go there? Go now! Maybe the waterpark, the kid’s museum, the zoo, or even the big city near your town, but you’ve always just been too busy? Make the time now to take your family there!

Whatever you do, make the most of the summer that we have left, put away the electronic devices and focus on your family. Things move so fast these days and you’ll find that all too soon everyone will be busy with school, homework and extracurricular activities and you’ll wish you spent the last lazy days of summer bonding with your family!
