Craft of the Day: Handprint Santa Cards!

Who doesn’t love finger-painting?! Combine that with the task of making holiday cards for friends and relatives this season and you’ve got a really fun & family friendly activity on your hands (no pun intended)! This great idea was inspired by Disney’s FamilyFun site!

Materials:

* Red & green construction paper  * Glue stick

* White (finger) paint  * Paper plates  * Googly eyes

Instructions:

1.) Take a piece of construction paper & fold in half. Put a dollop of white, black, red, & pink finger paint onto a paper plate (note: to make pink, mix red & white paint).
2.) Cut Santa-hat shapes (various triangles) from the red construction paper & glue one near the center of each card.
3). Next, glue a pair of googly eyes a fingertip’s width underneath each hat.
4.) Put white paint on the palm of your hand & press on the card (w/your fingertips facing downward) to make the beard!
5.) With the same hand, use a finger to place white dots along the bottom of the hat & one for a pom-pom at the top!
6.) Use your other fingers to create a red nose, black mouth, & pink cheeks on Santa’s face! Let dry.
7.) Finish by signing the inside w/a cheery message like “Happy Holidays Grandma!” or “Hope you have a Merry Christmas!”
