We’re making some changes at FPgirl this year, the most notable one being that we’ll no longer be selling merchandise on the site. Yes, it sounds like a big change—and it is—which probably leaves you wondering why. Here’s the scoop.
Over the past few years, we’ve discovered an interesting thing about our girls: shopping for the clothes they created on our site wasn’t at the top of their lists. They preferred designing clothes, sharing their opinions about the brands they love (like yours), entering contests, playing games, and connecting with other girls. In other words, they were all about creating their own personal online community…a place that Mom and Dad could approve of, but also a place where they could spread their wings and speak their minds, especially about the brands they know and love.
As we began to introduce new brands into the conversation, we saw engagement among our girls increase exponentially. The girls were proud to see how they could control their relationship with brands, influence the brand’s direction, and discover new brands they hadn’t known about.
So at the beginning of 2014, we decided to make a permanent shift away from selling clothes and focus instead on building up this already-fabulous community of nearly 1.5 MILLION girls even more…which is a win-win for the girls, for us, and for our current and future sponsors and brand partners.
What can the girls do on the new FPgirl?
- Design clothes. And boy do they ever LOVE designing!
- Hang out and comment on the Style Mag
- Answer questions and polls
- Enter design contests
- And more—this is the part we’re excited about because we’re going to build up the “more” part over the next 12 months
We’re creating lots of new ways for brands to connect with the FPgirl community, and we’re excited about all the possibilities. If you’re reading this and thinking, “Hey, how can my brand get involved?”—we’d love to hear from you. Go to this page and fill out the form to get started.
Thanks for supporting our thriving FPgirl community. Here’s to a fabulous 2014!
