Up, down, or somewhere in between. What’s the “best” way to wear your hair? Let’s look at some pros and cons for each style.

“Up” Hairstyles

Pros:

  • Once it’s done, there’s little to worry about!

  • Can instantly make an outfit more sophisticated

  • No more hair hanging in your face!

Cons:

  • Depending on how complicated the look is, it can take more time to create (or more practice)!

  • Requires keeping track of more accessories (elastics, bobby pins, barrettes, headbands)

“Down” Hairstyles

Pros:

  • Letting your hair flow free has such a fun, casual, free-spirit feel

  • Often takes less time (like when you wash it and just let it air dry!)

Cons:

  • Hair can more easily tangle and knot

  • Hair can go “flat” and fall in your face (a total pain, especially if you’re doing anything active)

“In between” Hairstyles (partly up and partly down)

Pros:

  • It’s the best of both worlds!

  • Can be playful and fun or classy and sophisticated

Cons:

  • Can take extra time to put together and requires keeping track of hair accessories

  • Doesn’t always work best when you’re extra active
