We’re so sad to think of summer being over, but Fall is such a good time to be outdoors! Not too hot, not too cold. Whether you’re heading out for a hike or just need a snack for after school, trail mix is a perfect mix of healthy and delicious.

What you’ll need:

  • A mixing bowl
  • Snack baggies or small containers
  • Ingredients!
  • An adult to help and check on food allergies

The mix of ingredients is the most important part; you don’t want too much of one thing and not enough of another. Here’s a good place to start: use one cup each of nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips, and granola.

The most fun part about trail mix is that you can make it just how you like it and experiment with different add-ins! Here are some ideas:

Bananutter: Use peanut butter chips and dried bananas! Yummmm!

Crunch it up: Add pretzels, fish crackers, or Chex mix to give your mix some more crunch!

Pop of color: Use M&Ms instead of chocolate chips for some yummy color. :)

Perfect for Fall: Pumpkin seeds are delicious and nutritious! Use them with dried cranberries for an awesome Fall mix.

When you’re done mixing, put your mix into your baggies or containers so they’re ready to go!
