Yay for summer! Yay for totally cute hairstyles that look great while keeping us COOL! One of our faves?? The hair knot.

What it is: Usually when we think of knotted hair, we think OUCH. In this case, you make the knots on purpose, which totally changes everything. The best part? You don’t need any special skills. If you know how to tie a knot, you’re all set.

What type of hair does it work on: Hair knots work best with medium to long hair.

How to do it: Try a simple one first. Start with dry hair (it’s OK if it’s a little dirty!). From the base of your skull in the back of your head, separate your hair into two chunks. Now go ahead and tie the chunks of hair into a knot. You can stop there, OR you can create a double hair knot by repeating the process. Secure with two or three bobby pins.

Voila! Now you have an awesome hair knot. By the way, this is just ONE version, so feel free to experiment.
