Earth Day is celebrated each year on April 22nd to learn about and take care of the Planet. People from all over the world celebrate with musical performances, picnics and other outdoor activities. Other popular ways of observing Earth Day include planting trees, picking up roadside trash, recycling, conserving water and electricity!

Taking care of the Earth might seem complicated, but there are many simple steps that each of us can take to save energy and reduce our impact on the planet. Don’t forget- the Earth supplies us with many things we need to live: water, minerals and fresh air (just to name a few…)

Here are a few simple ways you can give back to the environment

  1. Recycle (plastic bottles, paper plates, cardboard boxes)
  2. Donate  (old clothes, books and games to a nearby donation center)
  3. Clean up trash (in your room, school and even the playground)
  4. Re-use (lunch containers, water bottles etc.)
  5. Flip the switch! (turn off your lights when they aren’t being used!)

Remember, sharing the Earth means taking responsibility for what we use and how we use it. So, FPgirls… how do YOU help protect the planet? Tell us in comments below and don’t forget to Enter our April Design Contest- Green is GLAM!
