Throwback Thursday: Halloween 1984
This photo is from Halloween 1984, I was 6 years old.
All I wanted to be was a cowgirl. I wanted to wear the cool hat. I wanted to wear the pretty plaid. I wanted the fun denim skirt. And I wanted a horse (my mom nixed that one).
October 31, 1984 was my favorite Halloween because I felt invincible in that cowgirl costume. I had wanted to be it for SO long. My mother made sure it was perfect for me, and I loved and appreciated that. She bought all the key pieces to make me feel special. I’ll never forget.
As I’m preparing for Halloween tonight with my own family, life has come full circle. I’m getting my boys and girl ready for a fun night! My boys are going to be the “Duck Dynasty” family and my daughter is going to be a strawberry. I have driven around the state of Rhode Island (literally) to get them everything that they need. I did it because I love them and I want them to feel special tonight!
It’s what we do, right? ![]()
What are your little ones (or big ones!) dressing up as tonight for Halloween?

It’s what we do, you’re right, and as I’m coming upon the probably last year I’ll have a child who dresses up, it’s kinda sad for me.
