Introducing Dragonwing Girlgear and Preventing Bullying
As we near the end of National Bullying Prevention Month, we’re sad to know that in our country there have been far too many shootings and suicides in this month alone due to bullying.
Last week, a Nevada middle school student brought a gun to school and killed a teacher and another student before killing himself. Two weeks prior, a Texas high school student took his own life in the middle of the courtyard while school was in session.
These acts of violence are incomprehensible and extremely sad. If only someone had known these kids were being bullied, these acts might have been prevented. If only others wouldn’t bully, these people might be alive today.
Here at FPgirl, our hearts go out to the victims and families of all involved. We strive to empower our members and raise awareness about the good that the girls are doing when online. With that in mind, there are so many uplifting and positive exchanges between the girls that we think you parents should know about some of them! Our girls are raising each other up, helping each other through the trials and turmoil of being a tween, and we couldn’t be happier.
Last week, we introduced Dragonwing girlgear Studio and some new posts about being healthy and active. We asked the girls to list some of their favorite sports. When reader “sugarcat” was unsure about trying skateboarding because none of her friends have skateboards and she thought that she would be unpopular, so many other members reached out to her! “Sk8rsrule116″ came to the rescue and replied to “sugarcat”:
“That won’t make you unpopular, that might even make you more popular! When you get one [skateboard], a lot of other people will want one too! Do what you love, because doing what you love makes you happy. ”
“Hollister27″ added to the conversation and said:
“I agree … being yourself will make you cool. Don’t be anybody else but you sugarcat!”
A kind word goes a long way in making a difference and we love the positive interactions between the FPgirl members. We’re especially excited to introduce the Dragonwing girlgear Studio where we continue with the positive vibe! We are all about supporting girls, sports, healthy eating and living. We love that the girls stand up for each other, are not confined by stereotypes and are truly who they want to be!
Here’s a peek at the Dragonwing girlgear Studio where your girls can create fun and exciting sport scenes. And here are some sporty looks you can get for your daughter on the Dragonwing girlgear website!
