Tween Books to Movies - Read it, and Then Watch It!
Summer’s here and that could mean your kids may be sulking around the house soon saying, “But there’s nothing to dooooo!”
How about incorporating a little reading and movie-watching?
Here is a great list of tween books to movies. Suggest to your tween that if she reads the book first, you can rent the movie, and then maybe that will get her reading more over the summer? It’s worth a shot.
Some of these books you may have already read, some of these movies you may have already seen, but it’s fun to read the book and then see the movie to compare the two - what did they leave out of the movie? What did they add to the movie to make it more “Hollywood?” Does the actor on-screen fit the image of what you or your tween had in mind when you read the book? Check them out and decide for yourself!
It may surprise you to discover some of these movies were originally books:
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
