Want to Live Until You’re 100?

April 22, 2011

…Then you gotta eat right! :)

So, yesterday was officially Earth Day! In celebration of this awesome awareness day, let’s not only help the world get back on track, but our personal health as well!

Read on for some cool new ways to get your daily grains, fruits & veggies! PS: No need to do them all right away. Instead, try to work them into your everyday life & start enjoying your new wholesome eating habits! Thanks to the American Dietetic Association for these awesome ideas!

1. Love rice? Try using whole-grain rice & adding chopped apple, nuts & cinnamon for an awesome snack!

2. Jam-pack an omelet with a ton of veggies. Make it a super hearty meal with squash, carrots, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes or onions!

3. Get great amounts of potassium & fiber with a yummy baked potato. Cover with beans & salsa or broccoli & low-fat cheese!

4. Fill a whole-grain pita pocket with ricotta cheese, fresh apple slices & golden raisins!

5. Make a sweet banana split! Used sliced bananas & a scoop of low-fat frozen yogurt in a flavor of your choice! Instead of sprinkles, used nuts or dried fruit!

6. Guess what! Popcorn is a whole grain. Instead of using packages that are filled with a ton of butter & salt, try fat-free unsalted popcorn & simply add a little once popped!

Great ideas, right? Have any more you’d add to the bunch? Share them with us!
