Thoughts for Japan.
FashionPlaytes is obviously enthusiastic about fashion, but we are also incredibly passionate about varying issues taking place around the world! Whether you’re 10 years old or 50, it’s important to take time to learn about other cultures & to reach out in times of need!
Having said this & as you’ve probably heard, an earthquake of massive magnitude (8.9 on the Richter scale) hit off the coast of Japan causing a 23 ft. tsunami that crashed all along the coast. Buildings & homes were lost & many people were hurt. Even a week later, it’s still taking a huge toll on people’s lives in Japan.
So, what can YOU do to help?
1. DONATE to the cause. The American Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian network & has already donated 10 million bucks to the Japanese Red Cross! So, no one expects you to donate a million bucks. But, thanks to the established Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief, you can donate whatever you feel comfortable giving! $5, $10, $50, $100? Great! Just know that your donations will go far to help the welfare of so many families abroad.
2. THINK about the issue. Don’t have the funds to send overseas or simply want to do more to help? No problem! The key here is that we become socially aware individuals! To get informed, we have to try to pray, think, and/or discuss what is happening in Japan. Take a moment to truly educate yourself & your family on the situation, then send positive thoughts their way!

As someone who had close family members in Haiti when a huge earthquake struck in January 2010, myself (& the rest of the FashionPlaytes team) understand how important it is to support those in pain & suffering, especially during a natural disaster. This particular post wasn’t written to make you feel badly or extremely sad! Instead, think of it as a gentle push to bring global issues to light like this most recent one in Japan! Donate if you can, but most importantly, think about global happenings & always try to send your love to those who might have it a tad worse than you do.
Thanks for reading,

FYI: Fortunately, my mom & brother made it safely home after 5 traumatic days in Haiti. I truly believe that due to an enormous amount of prayers & love sent from myself, close family, friends & people around the world - Haitians & people like my mom & little bro had the strength to survive! Love works in very mysterious ways
