Sometimes it’s easy to get bummed when you see all the fashion that’s out there…and then the reality facing you in your piggy bank!! But guess what?? That’s where THRIFT shopping comes in.

So what, exactly, is thrift shopping? If someone is “thrifty,” it means she’s extra careful when it comes to spending money.

Now, you might be thinking, “But clothes cost what they cost, right? How can someone be thrifty when it comes to fashion?”

Not so fast, FPgirl! There’s a whole group of stores designed specifically for frugal shoppers! They’re called thrift shops, and the clothes there tend to be super cheap…or at least a lot cheaper than what you’d pay for them at the mall!

So why are the clothes cheaper at thrift shops? Because the stores get the items from people like you and me—people who’ll donate or sell the clothes on the cheap.

Let’s say you have a pair of stylish jeans that you LOVE. Someday you’ll outgrow them, right? But that doesn’t mean they’re no longer stylish or that some other girl out there couldn’t benefit from wearing them. Enter thrift stores! You’d sell or donate the jeans to the thrift shop, and it would sell them for a cheap price, since they’re slightly used. Someone who’s looking for super cute jeans can buy them, look great, AND still have some money left over in her pocket. Cool, huh?

Here’s the thing you need to remember: no two thrift stores are alike. Some days you might have a lot of luck and find all sorts of awesome, cheap clothes. Other times, you might strike out. Thrift shopping does require patience. But these shops usually get lots of “new” stuff on a regular basis. So you’ll never know what treasures you’re going to discover.
