Fashion sense of a four-year old
by Emma B.
My little sister Lily and I have different ideas about fashion (she’s 4 and I’m 10). She gets up in the morning and puts on a long-sleeve shirt with colorful fish on it, then throws on another short-sleeve shirt on top (with teddy bears). Then she adds flowered, ruffly shorts and refuses to make any changes (even though it’s winter). Also, Lily takes a clip from around the house and sticks it lopsidedly in her hair without a mirror. When she comes down for breakfast, her hair is sticking straight up.
For me, I get up in the morning and pull out both drawers, laying outfits on my bed and deciding which mix-and-match pattern looks best. Then I do my hair and put a fancy hair accessory that matches my outfit. I love flower headbands, clips and jeweled accessories. While I fret if I should wear boots or sneakers for this weather, Lily is putting on crocs in winter and furry boots in summer!
It is fun to recognize her fearlessness, fashion-wise. What she really taught me is stick to your opinion, do what you think is right and don’t let others put you down. Be confident in the way you look and your OWN sense of style.
