How To Stop Nail Biting: Advice FROM Girls TO Girls
Every once in awhile it’s fun to highlight what the girls are saying on the FPgirl Style Mag. We recently put up a post that was submitted by one of our community members, asking for advice about how to stop biting her nails.
Lizzy, 11 years old, asked the other girls “I need to know how to stop biting my nails and make them grow. … I am wondering if you girls have any remedies to help me stop biting my nails.“
Lizzy has received over 130 responses in just a few days! The advice that she is getting from her peers ranges from helpful and creative, to funny, to encouraging, and much more. Tween girls are AMAZING!!
Here are a few of the concrete tips that Lizzy received from the community:
Put hand sanitizer on but remember to wash it off before u eat!!!!!!! - Adyline
Putting duct tape on your nails will help you stop - Marryam
Write down on a piece of paper at least 3 reasons why you should stop biting your nails. Then write the steps on how you will stop your bad habit. - Kayla

I bit my nails from 2nd grade all through college…not a very good habit. What finally helped me was buying a clear polish called “Bite no More” or something like that, which tastes just awful and makes it very hard to keep your fingers in your mouth. I also started caring for my nails more…I always have a pair of nail clippers and a file on me at all times in case a nail breaks, so I don’t have the urge to straighten it out with my teeth. The nicer they start to look, the easier it gets to stop biting. I also chew sugarless gum a lot. Haven’t bitten them since 2009!
