Hi! I didn’t wear a skirt or a dress to school in over five years! practically no one in my school wears skirts… i really love skirts and dresses but I’m scared that if i start now, other kids may laugh at me because I’m known as a tomboy. How do I get the confidence to express my style and will people laugh at me?

Thanks!

Hi Shaelyn

We think it is great that you want to express your own unique style. And just because you are considered a tomboy does not mean that you can’t wear skirts too!

If you are worried what others will think, try talking to a few of your closest friends first. No matter what, your BFFs will have your back, and it feels great to have their support!

Still not ready to wear a dress? Try wearing pieces of clothing that will transition your look from tomboy to dressy. Wearing a denim skirt with a t-shirt and your favorite pair of sneakers is the perfect way to feel confident and subtly change your look.

Most importantly, when trying a new look, be confident and wear a smile :) When YOU are happy with how you look and feel, others will notice and compliment you on your great new look!

Hope these tips help!
