So, you might have heard that it’s “Movember” this month. Wait, what?? Well, the word itself is a combination of November and mustache. But what exactly IS Movember? Have you been wondering?? Us, too!! So we did some digging! Here’s the 411…impress your friends, family, even your teachers with your knowledge!

1. Movember was created to raise awareness of men’s health issues, specifically cancer. Every Movember, guys around the world grow mustaches in honor of the cause and raise money that will go towards research.

2. Movember actually began in Melbourne, Australia. G’day, mate!

3. The guys who participate in Movember are called “Mo Bros.” The women who support the cause are called “Mo Sistas.” :)

4. In 2011, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas around the world raised over 126 million dollars (!!!) for the Movember Foundation.

5. Spelling quiz! In the U.S. we write “mustache” while other English-speaking countries around the world generally write “moustache.”
