1. Sound the Alarm! If you’re not an early bird, practice waking up early a week or so before school starts. Set your alarm clock, iTouch, smartphone or other device to make sure you’re up and at ‘em at least 40 minutes before the bus arrives!

2. Organize your room. Including your closet! Take all of your Awesome new clothes, accessories and school supplies and organize them in a way that makes sense to you! There’s no better way to start off fresh, than with a freshly cleaned bedroom!

3. Have a Back to School Party! Invite some friends over to compare class schedules, and locker locations. Then show each other your new school clothes and supplies.

BONUS: Have a fashion show- but make sure to keep everything in MINT condition for that first day of school!

4. Don’t get lost! Take a walk or ride to map out your new bus stop location and bus route before school starts. Also be sure to review your class schedule and check out a map of your school to prevent getting lost. There’s nothing worse than being tardy to the first-day-of-school party!

5. Glamify your school supplies. Use magazine cut outs, glitter, stickers and rhinestones to glamify your school supplies. And for your backpack? Personalize that cool graphics and even your name!

6. Shop your new school style! Make a checklist of your back to school Must-haves, and get shopping! Make sure to grab your staple- basics that can be mixed and matched each week- as well as a few statement pieces (things that are bright and sparkly) to bring each outfit to life!

7. Prepare your first day outfit. Lay out your first-day of school outfit the night before. Include your top, bottom and all accessories. Remember, wear what makes you feel GOOD- whether it’s a comfy old sweater or brand new dress!

8. Decorate your Locker. Make a collage out of your friends and family, or even of your favorite tv/pop stars. Hang a cool mirror, a school supply organizer and your class schedule. Oh, and don’t forget to include a message board so your friends can leave you fun notes!

9. Jump Start your First Day. On your first day back to school, wake up a little early and have one something yummy for breakfast. Having a delicious morning meal will help put you in a good mood AND will keep you energized and ready to take on the day!

10. Plan ahead. Get a wall calendar or personal planner. Mark the due dates of papers, essays projects and note any upcoming quizzes,tests or assignments. List out-of-school activities as well, such as sports practices, games, club meetings, play rehearsals etc.  Marking these important dates will help you balance your schedule so things don’t get too crazy!

11. Start the year off on the right foot. Pick out an awesome pair of shoes for the first day of school. Try a pair in a fun bright color! This way they make you stand out and show off your cool personality! If the shoes are brand new, it might be a good idea to wear them a few times beforehand to break them in. There’s nothing worse than getting blisters on your first-day. Ouch!

14. Get Involved! Starting the new school year can be scary, so why not join a new club! An after school activity like a club or sport is a great way to make new friends!

15. Try your best!  Make sure to listen up and take notes during class! Feeling stuck? Ask one of your peers for help, ask your parents, or go to your teacher if you feel like you’re falling behind!
