New Feature: Inspiring Girl Organizations for Your Tween!
We’re so excited to introduce you to a new segment here at The Parents Connection where once a month we’ll be featuring an organization that empowers young women. Whether the group has to do with the arts, self-esteem, philanthropy, health, we’ve searched out some of the best organizations for your daughter and we’d love to share them with you!
This month we’re bringing you:
For girls in first to eighth grades, the Texas-based organization Girlstart empowers girls in science, technology, engineering and math, so if you have a daughter who loves to dive into her math homework, you definitely have to check out this website and the organization!
The Texas-based organization hosts a summer camp, an annual luncheon, conference, afterschool program (at participating schools), workshops, and other community programs.
While Girlstart is housed in Austin, there’s loads of information online for girls who live everywhere. The blog has interesting facts and cool experiments, and coming soon their Just For Girls section is getting revamped with some cool new STEM activities, games, quizzes and more!
What parents will love is the free online lessons, science experiments and info available to their daughters about the subject matter that’s interesting to them. The whole premise of the site is to connect girls to the STEM subjects! Girlstart has had over 2.5 million visitors worldwide and has received many awards within their community and on the web for their outstanding content.
So if you have a daughter who loves to be on the computer, and is fascinated with math and science, introduce her to Girlstart. It could connect her with some like-minded girls who have the same passions as she does, and possibly grow her interests further in science, technology, engineering and math. And that could only be a great thing! Girlstart may very well be the starting point in finding your daughter’s perfect career!
