Camp Week: 8 Essential Items to Pack!
Whether you’re going to be sleeping outside under the stars, relaxing in a lakeside cabin or attending a day camp program, there are some great essentials you’ll want to make sure you have with you when you head off to camp!
**
**
- Sun protection. You’ll be out in the sun for most of the day. Use an SPF 30+ on your face & body. Apply 15-30 mins before you go outside & 15-30 mins after you’ve been in the sun! Don’t forget the tips of your ears & lips. The FP Justine hat & a great pair of sunglasses will keep your eyes shielded from the sun!
- Bug repellant. You don’t want to be a mosquito’s snack all summer!
- A backpack. You need a place to store and carry all your stuff to and from camp. Need a fashionable option? Try our new Carrie backpack in 2 colorful prints that will help you keep all your things together!
- A flashlight. When you’re at overnight camp you’ll need a light! You never know when you’ll need to make a late-night trip to the outhouse or want to read a book before getting some sleep. I suggest a headlamp because it keeps your hands-free!
- Warm Layers. Even in the summer, nights can get chilly. The Eva fleece hoodie is a great item to keep you cozy. Make sure you have a variety of t-shirts, long sleeve shirts & outer layers so that you’re ready for any temperature. The Jane t-shirt with our new summer graphics would make a great base layer!
- Rainwear. If there’s any chance it will rain, remember to bring a lightweight jacket with a hood like this great option from Sierra Trading Post.
- A water bottle. Staying hydrated while you’re active is really important! The Vapur from Eddie Bauer is a great choice because it comes with a carabiner clip & the foldable design means you can store it anywhere!
- Extra socks and underwear. You never know when they’ll be needed!
Although there will be many more things you’ll think to bring with you for summer camp, be sure to check the packing list from your camp program & pay attention to REQUIRED and/or PROHIBITED items! Make sure you can carry all of your camp gear on your own. If you have too many bags that weigh you down, look for non-essential items (like a music player) that you can leave behind.
Go have fun & get dirty!
