Hot in NYC: Fashion Week and Toy Fair
It’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! Although the event is almost over, many designers have totally outdone themselves compared to last year! Runway shows on the schedule included all of the big designer names from Project Runway’s Christian Siriano, to recent new comer Rebecca Minkoff, to the classics like Diane von Furstenberg and Carolina Herrera. Obviously, this fashion week was one not to be missed! You might be thinking, “It’s way too early to be thinking about fall!” No way! True fashionistas always stay a few steps ahead in the world of fashion!
Some of the newest & hottest fashion trends for fall 2011, as reported by FABSUGAR, include menswear, classic prep, plaid, wide-leg pants, long skirts, silk shirts & capes! Although we’ve seen similar trends pop up this winter, designers have taken these ideas to the next level by incorporating clever ways to twist their styles, such as adding detailed beading or alternative ways to wear a sweater or cape. Hot colors for fall? Try deep reds, dark blues, gray, & of course military-inspired greens. These hues are great for all skin types, so start stocking up some great fashion! No matter which path you choose to go down, get ready for another fall season sure to be flirty sophistication!

Another great event taking place in NYC this week? The American International Toy Fair! Taking place between 2/13-16/2011, this toy trade show is one of the largest & displays the coolest products coming out in the kid/tween marketplace!
Trends for 2011? As the Toy Industry Association, Inc. reports, expect to see many games & activities this year that have to do with helping keep your kids active! Think mind-challenging games that require & encourage thinking logically, as well as sports or dance toys with motion-sensor abilities that stimulate activeness. Also, expect to see toys that encourage learning & help build self-confidence. The coolest trend? Toys that help kids start thinking as responsible & socially aware people of society! These games will help teach children more about the world around them, but specifically how to “go green”, be charitable, & to always act as “everyday heroes”. Sweet, right?

And this week was the Westminister Dog Show too in NYC! Passed all the pooches getting ready as I was walking to Toy Fair on Monday! Such a New York moment!
